On Saturday, the Lawrence North Wildcats faced the Westfield Shamrocks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lawrence North took down Westfield 59-42. The victory was familiar territory for Lawrence North who now have three in a row.
Lawrence North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamaya Thomas led the charge by scoring 11 points. Another player making a difference was Naja Winston, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Lawrence North pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Westfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.
Lawrence North will finish 2023 at home by hosting Eastern Hancock at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. Westfield will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
