Westinghouse extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They lost 16-2 to the Mather Rangers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 13-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Westinghouse saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Navarrete, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Michael Burgess was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Mather, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
On Mather's side, Jadier Castillo and Caden Krabill were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Castillo pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Krabill struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Castillo posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Castillo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Krabill went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Mather is undefeated when Castillo posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, David Goytia was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaron Roman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Westinghouse does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mather, they are taking a road trip to challenge Northridge at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Rangers surely won't give up without a fight.
