Cornerstone Charter Academy hasn't had much luck against Windermere Prep recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Tanielu Cox made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Connor Luckado also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Windermere Prep narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Orlando Christian Prep 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Lakers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Matthew Kirk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Windermere Prep is undefeated when Kirk allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Windermere Prep's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Justin Wang, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Wang a new career-high.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Windermere Prep, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cornerstone Charter Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Windermere Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cornerstone Charter Academy came up short against Windermere Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 4-1. Can the Ducks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
