The Frankfort Hot Dogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 49-36 to Western Boone. Frankfort found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 23 to 6 on offense.
Frankfort's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saira Flores, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Vannessa Guardado was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Western Boone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Reagan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reagan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ila Stokes, who scored 17 points along with six steals.
Frankfort's loss was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-18. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.7 points per game. As for Western Boone, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frankfort will take on Clinton Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Boone won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Putnam at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. North Putnam has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
