Hebrew Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the St. Anselm's Abbey Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hebrew Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully St. Anselm's Abbey likes a good challenge.
Hebrew Academy pushed their score all the way to 59 back in December of 2023, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Hebrew Academy and Sandy Spring Friends wasn't particularly close, with Hebrew Academy falling 77-59. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hebrew Academy has scored all season.
Meanwhile, St. Anselm's Abbey's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banneker. While losing is never fun, St. Anselm's Abbey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Banneker is ranked 13th).
Hebrew Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2. As for St. Anselm's Abbey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Hebrew Academy took their victory against St. Anselm's Abbey when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 74-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hebrew Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
