The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 51-37 fall against Eastside. P.K. Yonge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why P.K. Yonge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alijah Bertrand. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. Joel Washington was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals and two blocks.
Leading Eastside to victory were Jarrel Comer and Quashawn Brittingham. Comer scored eight points along with 14 rebounds, while Brittingham scored 15 points along with two steals. Comer is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Lemarion Houston, who scored eight points.
P.K. Yonge has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Eastside, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
P.K. Yonge will take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Interlachen is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. As for Eastside, they and the Raiders will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Santa Fe's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
