Softball Recap: Rochester Wins Going Away Against Cashmere

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rochester walked away with it. They blew past the Cashmere Bulldogs 8-1 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Layna Demers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Charlie Culp was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Justice, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Rochester is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Cashmere, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Coming up, Rochester will challenge Royal at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Cashmere does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
