The Piketon Redstreaks will venture away from home to challenge the Huntington Huntsmen at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Piketon has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Piketon will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Adena, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Redstreaks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Warriors on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Redstreaks have won by just one run.
Addy Blakeman was incredible, firing off two home runs and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Forbes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Piketon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Huntington). They blew past Paint Valley 20-10 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Huntsmen, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Allie Baker was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Bushatz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Piketon pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3-1 and their overall record up to 5-6-1.
Piketon skirted past Huntington 8-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Redstreaks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huntsmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
