Edgemont is 0-6 against Harding County since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Edgemont Moguls will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Harding County Ranchers at 4:30 p.m. Edgemont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Edgemont struggled with offensive rebounds last Saturday (Banner County had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Edgemont took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banner County.
Despite their defeat, Edgemont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keaton Darrow, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Darrow also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Cian Waite, who scored six points along with six rebounds and six blocks.
Even though they lost, Edgemont were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Harding County's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were beaten by Bowman County co-op [Bowman/Rhame] 80-34. Harding County has not had much luck with Bowman County co-op [Bowman/Rhame] recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nayati Bickerdyke, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Dvorak, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Edgemont's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Harding County, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1.
Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Edgemont have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 22 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Harding County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 35 rebounds per game. Given Edgemont's sizeable advantage in that area, Harding County will need to find a way to close that gap.
Edgemont was dealt a bruising 85-18 defeat at the hands of Harding County in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Edgemont was down 54-14.
