Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Glenelg walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Kent Island Buccaneers 3-2 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Gladiators sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Avery Hubbard paced Glenelg's offense, picking up 27 kills. Hubbard got some help from Jessica Li and her 52 assists. Li was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.
Glenelg's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Kent Island, with the loss, they broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 12-4.
Looking ahead, Glenelg will challenge Calvert on Tuesday. Kent Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
