Softball Recap: Marion-Franklin Wins Going Away Against Independence

Marion-Franklin won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Monday too. The Red Devils put the hurt on the 76ers with a sharp 20-2 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by 15 runs or more this season.

Azul Martinez and Camryn Russell did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez scored four runs while going 3-for-4, while Russell scored three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Dexter, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her eight plate appearances.

Marion-Franklin's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Independence, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Marion-Franklin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-1 victory against West on the 16th. Independence has also already played their next game (against East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
