The Estancia Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Logan Longhorns at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Estancia has ten straight wins, Logan has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
17 must be Estancia's lucky number: they beat Sandia Prep with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Bears blew past the Sundevils 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jhenna Valencia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ana Cuevas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Karina Villafuerte, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Estancia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .852. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Logan came up short against Tucumcari on Friday, falling 23-8.
Estancia's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.1 runs over those games. As for Logan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything went Estancia's way against Logan in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, as Estancia made off with a 19-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
