Basketball Recap: Benjamin Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Marlee Schwab and Kinzie Bunting

Benjamin and Jupiter Christian squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Benjamin had to settle for second. They took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jupiter Christian Eagles. The Buccaneers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it nine in a row.

Kinzie Bunting and Marlee Schwab certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Bunting posted 13 points and eight steals, while Schwab earned 15 points. Those 13 points gave Bunting a new career-high. Maddie Amorosino was another key player, putting up three points.

Jupiter Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison Simmons, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Simmons has scored at least a third of Jupiter Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Altman, who scored seven points and 15 rebounds.

Benjamin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Jupiter Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.

Benjamin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jupiter Christian has already played their next game (against John Carroll Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
