Basketball Recap: Kennedy's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Kennedy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Cordova Lancers by a score of 60-53. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Lancers are ranked 1004th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Kennedy to victory were Aharon Young and Jordan Lawrence. Young posted 19 points, while Lawrence had 16 points. Lawrence's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazaevion Cole, who put up nine points.

Kennedy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Cordova, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Kennedy will square off against Grant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Grant likes a good challenge. As for Cordova, they will host McClatchy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McClatchy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three games.
