Leechburg is 0-3 against Serra Catholic since March of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Leechburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Ellis 17-4 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Trinity Kimble made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Leechburg got a massive performance out of Danica Sopcak, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Sopcak is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Emily Talarico was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Leechburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellis only posted an OBP of .407.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Serra Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Monessen on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 12-1 win.
Johanna Domek was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Bianca Gajdos also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Serra Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Leechburg, their record now sits at 7-3.
Leechburg might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Serra Catholic when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
