Two dominant guards in Paxton Boaz and Terell James are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The International Community Comets and the Winter Springs Bears will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. International Community is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but International Community ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 46-41 victory over All Saints' Academy.
International Community found their leader in underclassman Boaz, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Slade Woodruff, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Winter Springs pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-56 to Seminole. While losing is never fun, Winter Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Seminole is ranked 32nd).
International Community's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Winter Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
