Skyline has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Mansfield Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Skyline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
Last Friday, Skyline was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-34 to Braswell. While losing is never fun, Skyline can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Braswell is ranked 18th).
Lily Brown put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 17 points. She scored a full 50% of Skyline's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mansfield beat Alief Taylor 48-43 last Saturday. The win was just what Mansfield needed coming off of a 71-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Their wins bumped Skyline to 8-8 and Braswell to 13-2.
Skyline couldn't quite finish off Mansfield when the teams last played back in January and fell 38-35. Can Skyline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
