The Wausau West Warriors will face off against the Mosinee Indians at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Friday, Wausau West came up short against Medford and fell 8-4. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Wausau West saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Sillars, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another was Miles Waldvogel, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mosinee). They never let Antigo get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Friday. The Indians have beaten the Red Robins the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Robins has come to flipping the script.
Mosinee also got a great performance from Zach Nechuta as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Nechuta also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Indians are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Treve Stoffel was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Elliot Yirkovsky was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Mosinee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mosinee's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Wausau West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Wausau West came up short against Mosinee in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
