Gilberto Torres put up the most strikeouts he's had since back in March on Monday. He struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Torres' effort led Centennial over Las Cruces and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks are 8-2 against the Bulldawgs going back to April of 2022, a lead they'll look to extend.
