Evans has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Effingham County Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Evans knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Effingham County likes a good challenge.
Even though Brunswick scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, Evans still came out on top. Evans took their contest against Brunswick 67-59.
Evans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taj Ford led the charge by scoring 20 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Brice Wallace, who scored 23 points.
Meanwhile, Effingham County entered their tilt with Lakeside with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Effingham County secured a 59-55 W over Lakeside on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Effingham County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Lakeside is ranked 107th).
Evans is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Effingham County, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Evans skirted past Effingham County 34-32 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Evans repeat their success, or does Effingham County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
