Bunn had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over the Franklin Academy Patriots on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Bunn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ny'lah Mitchell led the charge by putting up ten points and eight boards. Makayla Richardson was another key player, earning 15 points.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rayne Bookhart, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Brown, who posted ten points.

Franklin Academy is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bunn will welcome Beddingfield at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Franklin Academy, they will be playing at home against Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' defense better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 57.5 points per game this season.
