The New Richmond Lions were the 74-66 winner over the Wilmington Hurricane when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. New Richmond took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilmington on Thursday. New Richmond has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
New Richmond's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Izzy Hughes, who scored 16 points along with three steals, and Kiera Kirk who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hughes scored 15 or more points.
New Richmond's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Wilmington, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Richmond will square off against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wilmington, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
