Softball Game Preview: Paris Greyhounds vs. Bracken County Polar Bears

Paris and Bracken County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. Paris will challenge Bracken County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Paris' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

While Paris didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Somerset Christian an 18-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won six games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Paris got a massive performance out of Tori Dumphord, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn White, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Paris was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bracken County had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Fleming County 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Polar Bears have posted since May 18, 2024.

The win got Bracken County back to even at 4-4. As for Paris, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Paris suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Bracken County when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Paris avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
