The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the South Jones Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Northeast Lauderdale took a serious blow against Neshoba Central, falling 88-36. Northeast Lauderdale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-14.
Meanwhile, South Jones' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 53-34 fall against West Jones. While losing is never fun, South Jones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while West Jones is ranked 27th).
Northeast Lauderdale's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for South Jones, they bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Northeast Lauderdale, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-42 loss to South Jones in their previous matchup back in November of 2017. Can Northeast Lauderdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
