The Cahokia Comanches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Mt. Vernon on the road and fell 97-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cahokia in their matchups with Mt. Vernon: they've now lost eight in a row.
Mt. Vernon was led to victory by Tiara Johnson and Arwyn Wilkie. Johnson scored 20 points, while Wilkie scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Wilkie scored 15 or more points. Melaina Zedalis was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Cahokia has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they pushed their record up to 21-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Cahokia will head out on the road to square off against Belleville West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Althoff Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Althoff Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
