The Laton Mustangs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Wonderful College Prep Academy by a score of 48-41 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Laton also won the last time the pair played last Wednesday.
Laton had a senior duo take command as Johnathan Garcia scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and Cesar Meza scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Garcia has scored at least a third of Laton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yann Jimenez, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Laton's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Riverdale Christian the next time they take the court. Laton will head out to face Riverdale Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Wonderful College Prep Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
