The Tri-Township Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They snuck past South Central with a 42-37 win. That's another feather in the cap for Tri-Township, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why South Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sadie Marks. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 59.5% of South Central's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwen Mendenhall, who scored two points along with three steals.
Tri-Township's victory bumped their record up to 20-1. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.
Tri-Township won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marquette Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Marquette Catholic is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Tri-Township a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. South Central on the road again on Tuesday and play against North Judson-San Pierre at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
