The McQueen Lancers won against the Galena Grizzlies last Tuesday with 38 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. McQueen skirted past the Grizzlies 38-35. McQueen didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
McQueen was led to victory by Brooklyn Pimpl and Caitlin Hilson. Pimpl scored seven points, while Hilson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Hilson has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
Galena lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mia Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Turner hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Audrey Gonda was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Galena struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
McQueen's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Galena, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.
McQueen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Miners at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Manogue is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road. As for Galena, they will challenge the Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.
