It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hillcrest Christian Cougars had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 58-36 victory. Hillcrest Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Hillcrest Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Severe McNeary led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. McNeary is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jordan Johnson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
The victory (which was Hillcrest Christian's 12th in a row) raised their record to 23-6. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.9 points. As for Lamar Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 24-8.
Hillcrest Christian is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Desoto County Academy at 5:15 p.m. on February 14th. Hillcrest Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 785 points over their last 12 matches. Lamar Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
