The Pahrump Valley Trojans will square off against the River Valley Dust Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Pahrump Valley: 1.4, River Valley: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
River Valley will be up against a hot Pahrump Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Pahrump Valley was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Canyon Springs on Wednesday. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Andrew Zurn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Dominik Wilson looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, Kayne Horibe and Anthony Montanez did most of the damage at the plate: Horibe scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Montanez scored a run and stole Three bases. Another player making a difference was Chris Nelson, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Valley). They blew past Mohave Accelerated 18-3 on Tuesday. The Dust Devils haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Thomas Ramby looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, River Valley got a massive performance out of Mickey Gonzalez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those runs marked the first that Gonzalez scored this season. Mickey Smith was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
River Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pahrump Valley's record is now 6-0-1. As for River Valley, they now have a winning record of 2-1-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pahrump Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
