The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Jimtown Jimmies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tippecanoe Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Tippecanoe Valley after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Homestead, falling 10-4.
Dalynne Bussard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Naomi Gaerte made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackaylie Costello, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Jimtown made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bremen on Tuesday. The Jimmies put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 11-2 win. The Jimmies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Jimtown also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Claire Carlson gave up just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Campbell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Gaugler, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Jimtown lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Jimtown is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
