The Soquel Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Pacific Grove by a score of 71-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Pacific Grove had strong showings from Gabriel Valencia, who scored 19 points, and Oliver Ottmar, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Ottmar scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was William Powley, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Soquel's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Pacific Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Soquel will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Harbor at 7:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. Pacific Grove will finish 2023 at home by hosting Soledad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
