North Duplin is 9-1 against Lakewood since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rebels will head out to take on the Leopards at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Duplin barely beat Neuse Charter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Cole Grady tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Duplin is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Garris Warren, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for North Duplin: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Noa Quintanillia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
North Duplin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Lakewood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Union on Thursday. The Leopards put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 25-0 win. With that victory, the Leopards brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Rylan Godbold and Johnson Rouse made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Godbold pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rouse tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Godbold scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Rouse scored three runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs Godbold has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Reed Ammons was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Neal, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Lakewood's record now sits at 6-8. As for North Duplin, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Lakewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Duplin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Lakewood, though, as they've only averaged .200. Will they be able to contain North Duplin's hitters?
North Duplin skirted past Lakewood 2-1 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
