Softball Recap: Dixon Has No Trouble Against Rio Linda

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Destiny Christian Academy, Dixon was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rio Linda Knights with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Dakota Gaball was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Gomez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Adi Martinez also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Dixon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Dixon's record now sits at 6-3. As for Rio Linda, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.
