Two dominant backs in Braeden Kumer and Evan Usher are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Carlmont Scots will head out on the road to face off against the Woodside Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
The third road game was the charm for Carlmont, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took their game on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 48-3 win over El Camino. Carlmont pushed the score to 41-3 by the end of the third, a deficit El Camino had no chance of recovering from.
Kumer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 283 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.9 yards per carry. Kumer is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, everything went Woodside's way against Fremont on Thursday as Woodside made off with a 35-15 victory. The result was nothing new for Woodside, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Woodside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Usher, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Usher is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Furtado, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Carlmont's victory pushed their record up to 2-5, while Woodside's bumped their own up to the opposite: 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Carlmont has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 229.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Woodside struggles in that department as they've been even better at 290 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Carlmont strolled past Woodside when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a score of 34-20. Does Carlmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
