The Trinity Tigers will square off against the Collegiate Dutchmen at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Collegiate will come in with three straight wins.
Things were looking good for Trinity after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 12-6 to Riverdale Country.
Freddie Crowhurst was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Tyler Delarosa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Collegiate made easy work of Dalton on Friday and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Dutchmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ale' Propper-Bowring spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has become a key player for Collegiate: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Deblasi, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was David Youngwood, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Collegiate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Collegiate's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Trinity has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Collegiate struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Trinity's way against Collegiate in their previous meeting on April 9th, as Trinity made off with a 15-8 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dutchmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
