Bay City is 1-6 against Stafford since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bay City Blackcats will head out on the road to face off against the Stafford Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
There was early excitement for Bay City after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Iowa Colony who ended up claiming the real prize. Bay City was just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to Iowa Colony. It was the first time this season that Bay City let down their fans at home.
Despite their defeat, Bay City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jada Andrews, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 52 receiving yards, was perhaps the best of all. Andrews was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards. Xylan Williams was in the mix too, providing Bay City with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Stafford came up short against El Campo on Friday and fell 27-17. Stafford has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Christopher Gardner-Holland, who picked up 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Bay City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Stafford, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Bay City beat Stafford 27-20 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bay City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
