3A District 6 recap October 8, 2013
Bishop Verot extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 6 this week by beating Out-of-Door Academy, 56-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Vikings.
Bishop Verot led the league in scoring this week by notching 56 points on the Thunder. Jimmy Dwyer ran for 150 yards and caught 1 pass for 23 yards during the win.
Phil Dorn's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Quinn Farrell threw for 94 and 1 touchdown and CJ Spiro had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Dwyer chipped in 150 yards. Steve Brown helped Bishop Verot's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 29 yards.
Dwyer was a passing and rushing force as the Vikings bested Out-of-Door Academy. Dwyer's key target this week was Spiro, who caught 3 passes for 50 yards.
Dwyer was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Brown added to the ground attack by rushing for 40 yards.
Bishop Verot's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Farrell has thrown for 557 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Spiro has 12 catches for 293 yards.
Bishop Verot made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,268 from 7,401. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 56-0 victory over Brett Timmons' team last week.
