Millers Creek Christian suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Triad Baptist Christian Academy by a score of 36-34. While losing is never fun, Millers Creek Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Triad Baptist Christian Academy is ranked 166th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was MATTIE LAYAOU, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was ELLIE SMITH, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in November of 2023 after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Mountain View Christian Academy, falling 58-12. Heritage Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-5.
Millers Creek Christian's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Millers Creek Christian against Heritage Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 35-2 victory.
