The Randle Lions will take on the Belton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Randle's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Randle had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Fort Bend Marshall by a score of 35-24. 35 seems to be a good number for Randle as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Landen Callis-Williams was his usual excellent self, rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Belton waltzed into Thursday's game with three straight wins but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 61-6 win over Travis at home. Given Belton's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Travis is ranked 827th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Belton can attribute much of their success to Devin Horton, who rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Gino Zecca, who rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.
Randle's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Belton, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Randle has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 433.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Belton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 352.3 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.
