Marsh Valley and Bear Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Eagles will square off against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Marsh Valley managed to slip by American Falls the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Beavers on Wednesday, falling 20-3. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.
Olivia Campbell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Kenna Koester also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bear Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Soda Springs on Monday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.
Brielle Romrell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mckinley Humpherys, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bear Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Marsh Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-1. As for Bear Lake, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Marsh Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bear Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Marsh Valley might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Bear Lake in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
