The North Brunswick Scorpions are still undefeated this season after their matchup against the Holly Springs Golden Hawks on Saturday, but the Holly Springs Golden Hawks came as close as anyone has to beating them. North Brunswick came out on top in a nail-biter against Holly Springs and snuck past 65-62. Given North Brunswick's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Holly Springs is ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Brunswick had a senior duo take command as Ronnie Ballard scored 17 points along with 4 steals and Eric Mosley scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Ballard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakhi Daniels, who scored 11 points.
North Brunswick has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 4-0 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for Holly Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
North Brunswick will head out on the road to face off against East Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully East Columbus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Holly Springs, they will be playing at home against Leesville Road at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
