The Weslaco Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Sam Houston.
Sam Houston found their leader in underclassman Rylan Austin, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals. Austin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Brock, who scored 11 points.
Weslaco's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Sam Houston, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Weslaco's road trip will continue as they head out to face Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on December 1st. As for Sam Houston, they will take on Cedar Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sam Houston in Texas (Cedar Hill is ranked 195th, while Sam Houston is ranked 952nd).
