Golden Valley hasn't had much luck against Tehachapi recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Golden Valley lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Arvin, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Bears on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tehachapi). They blew past West 20-2 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Aidan McIrvin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. McIrvin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Emma Roed was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Perkins, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Tehachapi kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.
Golden Valley pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tehachapi, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Golden Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Tehachapi when the teams last played back in May of 2022, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
