North Central I recap October 1, 2013
Fort Bragg moved up to 791 from 838 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Central I. The Timberwolves climbed the ranks as a result of beating Lower Lake 33-6.
Clear Lake and Cloverdale played the closest game in the league this week, with Clear Lake eventually emerging with a 20-19 victory.
St. Helena's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jack Preston threw for 68 yards and Gatlin Blakeley had 38 yards receiving. On the ground Sebastian Segura chipped in 196 yards.
Segura was a passing and rushing force as the Saints topped Kelseyville. Segura's favorite target this week was Blakeley, who caught 3 passes for 38 yards.
Segura was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 196 yards as St. Helena topped the Knights. Jackson Graff also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
St. Helena's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Preston has thrown for 418 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Blakeley has 19 catches for 272 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Brandon Farrell's team's Blakeley goes up against the Trojans' Ben Day.
Next week's game between the Saints and Lower Lake will feature a good passing match up as Preston will test his arm against Day's defensive ability.
One of North Central I's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when St. Helena and Justin Gaddy's team face off next week.
At the moment, the Saints are in first, while the Trojans are in fifth.
The league will see a high scoring game when St. Helena and Lower Lake face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Saints comes in having scored 88 this season, while the Trojans have scored 125. St. Helena scored 42 points last week as it defeated Kelseyville.
The Saints made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,900 from 7,554. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-12 victory over Mike McGuire's team last week.
