Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. Blanche Ely Tigers

Cypress Bay is 0-3 against Blanche Ely since November of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Cypress Bay Lightning will head out to face off against the Blanche Ely Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Blanche Ely will be up against a hot Cypress Bay team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Cypress Bay blew past West Broward 55-21 on Monday. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Bobcats are ranked 464th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Agam Gago was nothing short of spectacular: she went 6 of 9 on her way to 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Danielle Oz, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Blanche Ely faced off against Dillard on Saturday. Blanche Ely claimed a resounding 63-3 victory over Dillard. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Cypress Bay's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Blanche Ely, their record is now 13-5.

Cypress Bay might still be hurting after the 44-23 loss they got from Blanche Ely in their previous meeting on January 8th. Can Cypress Bay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
