Softball Recap: Harlem Beats Freeport for Their Third Straight Victory

Harlem waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Freeport Pretzels with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Rylie Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Rivas and Aubrey Burbach did most of the damage at the plate: Rivas went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Burbach went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That home run marked the first that Rivas has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Joslyn Agustin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Harlem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeport only posted a batting average of .083.

Harlem's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Freeport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Harlem didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-2 victory against Belvidere on the 7th. As for Freeport, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-8 defeat against Boylan Catholic on the 7th.
