Eldorado extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-13. They came up short against the Edwards County Lions, falling 14-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Tuesday.
Eldorado got a good showing from Ryder Cooper, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs Cooper has allowed since back in April of 2025.
At the plate, Nolan Rilying was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddex Rash, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
As for Edwards County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Edwards County's side, Drew Roosevelt made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Roosevelt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Hensley, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Dylan Prather was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eldorado will head out to face off against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Edwards County, they will venture away from home to take on Gibson Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
