The Port St. Lucie Jaguars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 36-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Fork. Port St. Lucie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Fork apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
South Fork was led to victory by Jannaro Sumpter and Omar Mejia. Sumpter rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, while Mejia gained 151 total yards and four touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was South Fork's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was James Henry and his three sacks.
Port St. Lucie's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.3 points per game. As for South Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Lucie will take on Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Fork, they will head out on the road to face off against Suncoast at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Suncoast comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
