The Macksville Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Stafford Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Macksville will be strutting in after a win while Stafford will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Macksville made easy work of Ness City and carried off a 34-14 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Macksville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Orion Guevara out in front who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and a touchdown. Guevara also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending a pass. Gavin Rose was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and two touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Macksville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Macksville's defense and their four sacks. Devin Murrow was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up twohimself. James Granger was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing a fumble, and forcing a fumble.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Stafford's offense. They were outmatched by Central Christian on the road and fell 48-0.
Macksville's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for Stafford, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
